The tomato that could.

This tomato plant sprouted out of a crack between two concrete slabs next to our house. I propped it up in a cage for my potted passion flower. After several weeks I can't believe this tomato is still going strong. It is well past the season. I love surprise plants like this. I just can't fathom how the seed got there in the first place. I hope to be slicing this tomato over my next salad.

  1. Now, you know you're going to have to follow up with this little guy. I'm sure it will turn out better than mine did. ;)

Sometimes those plants are the most hardy. I couldn't grow sunflowers very well last summer and then one sprouted from our bird seed and bloomed better than any of the ones I had taken care of. Go figure. I'm sure it was just spiting me.
