This month has been full of culinary adventures. From beet salads to fried onion rings, I’ve been busy in the kitchen. All of this rain has led to some serious cooking sprees and tedious hand-chopping sessions.
I have to insert a big “Thank you!” to my friend and fellow foodie, Hannah. She never fails to provide me with cool ideas, links to delicious recipes, and free or local food buying opportunities. In this album, you will see her coffee cubes, hand-chopped pesto, and figs from her very own tree. Props to her husband, Neil, for picking and delivering figs to my door. That was really above and beyond and very much appreciated.
My brother posted a photo of his grilled veggies on Facebook, which led us to an all night grilling session: beets, zucchini, squash, asparagus, onions, tomato. It so happened that we were socked in with rain on this day, which gave me lots of internet surfing time. I went ALL out. I made homemade BBQ sauce, ribs, BBQ peaches, and even fried onions rings to go with the veggies. Wow! We ate for a whole week.
Wow! That stuff looked so very delicous! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteI have actually been in more of a cooking spurt lately, which I think I can thank the farmer's market for. It has been such fun because I try to eat what is in season, and compliment it as best as I can. A lot of it I don't even use recipes for! It almost makes me feel like a mini-Meagan-cook! Well, sorta...:)
Aww, thanks for our very own paragraph! You are sweet, especially since I feel like I'm always the one taking from you. ;-) I am just excited to have someone to share food experiences with.
ReplyDeleteAgain, this food looks AMAZING and the photos are great. Keep taking pictures and inspiring us with the recipes. I love how you post the recipes with the photos.
And I'm glad to know we're not the only ones eating late!! I think you have beat us though.
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ha ha! Yes, I like eating food that's in season as well. It just seems so natural and good for you. I'm glad to hear that you are such a cook already! That's awesome. So, how does it work at your house? Do you girls all take turns cooking? Cook together?
Hannah,
Thanks! You deserve at LEAST a paragraph! ;-) I feel the same. It's nice to get inspired by seeing what others are cooking whenever you need a boost. Yes, we were bordering on ridiculous the other night. I rather not eat THAT late!
